WiCSCast: From Runtimes to Fun Times - Episode 1: Transfer Learning

Wish you all a very happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science! On this special day, we are extremely delighted to launch WiCS’ first podcast series, WiCSCast: From Runtimes to Fun Times

In the podcast episodes, we will attempt to bring together researchers, professors, and students in the CS field to break down seemingly complex and lesser-known topics in Computer Science and related disciplines. Through this medium, we also hope to give rise to more conversations pertaining to gender and its role in academia and other professional domains, especially in the STEM fields.

For the first episode, we have Chanda Grover, a Computer Science PhD student at Ashoka University, break down Transfer Learning, her area of interest in Machine Learning.

About Chanda:

Chanda Grover is pursuing Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor Ravi Kothari at Ashoka University. Her primary research area is Transfer Learning and its applications in the health and biomedical domain. Her other area of research interest lies in representation learning and generative models in the hope to transfer knowledge from one aspect to other aspects. Chanda did her undergraduate (B.Tech) from Maharishi Dayanand University, Haryana. She completed her M.Tech at Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan. She started her career with Tata Consultancy Services, Delhi and worked on projects as a Data Analyst. There, she identified her area of research interests in the area of Machine Learning and joined IIT Gandhinagar as a research fellow to explore further. Then after, she started her Ph.D. at Ashoka University and is pursuing the same.
